- When are my taxes due?

- Tax bills go out once a year in August and are due quarterly: September 1, December 1, March 1, June 1 (There is an additional 15 day grace period during each quarter).
- Tax bills with an annual amount less than $100 must be paid in full in the first quarter.
- How can I pay my taxes?

In- Person: We offer in-person payments at the Finance Department located on the First Floor of the Town Hall, 125 Main Street, East Greenwich, RI 02818. The office is open Monday - Friday from 8:30 - 4:30pm excluding holidays. Cash, check or credit/debit payments are accepted in office. Credit or debit payments are charged a convenience fee by the card machine vendor.
After hours: There is also a drop-box outside the Courthouse Lane parking lot entrance to the Finance Office for 24/7 payment drop-offs.
Via Mail: Payments made payable to the Town of East Greenwich may be mailed to the attention of the Tax Collector at P.O. Box 111, East Greenwich, RI 02818
Online: Payments can also be made online using Official Payments website (subject to convenience fee).
- What if I have moved?

For mailing address updates, please submit a Change of Address form to the Tax Assessor's office via mail or email.
If you have recieved a tax or sewer bill and no longer own property in East Greenwich, please forward the bill to your closing attorney or return it the Tax Assessor's office so the new owners can recieve the original copy.
- How can I appeal my tax assessment?

The appeal period for Real Estate and Personal Property is from September 1st – November 30th of each year. If you do not file within this timeframe, you waive your right of appeal and have no further recourse in accordance with RI General Law 44-5-26.
Tax Appeal Applications will be available online and in the Tax Assessor's office on September 1st of each calendar year until the end of the appeal period.
- What are the filing requirements for new and existing businesses?

All active businesses and leasing agents are required to file an Annual Return with the Tax Assessor each year. These returns go out in the mail in late November and are due back in March of the following year. These forms are used to verify assets and generate assessed values for tangible property located in the municipality. Failure to file can result in penalties and forfeits an entities ability to appeal their tax assessment. For more information, please contact the Tax Assessor.
If you are a new business, please submit a New Business Declaration Form to our office.
