We understand that a lot of information has been put on social media about the Frenchtown road communications tower. Much of this information is false and misleading. The existing tower is used for Rhode Island Emergency Management and the Town' s public safety communications. The tower is to be replaced with a larger tower to enable better communications. As this time, 5g is not planned to be located on this tower. The tower is part of Rhode Island's Statewide Communications Network (RISCON) which is the state's primary public safety communication system. RISCON is also part of Rhode Island's Critical Infrastructure Program.
