STATE PRIMARY SEPTEMBER 8, 2020
EMERGENCY MAIL BALLOT PERIOD
AUGUST 19th – SEPTEMBER 8TH AT 4:00PM
TOWN HALL, 125 MAIN STREET, 2ND FLOOR
This is a 20-day period before an election when voters who missed the regular mail ballot period can come to Town Hall, 125 Main Street, and vote in-person OR apply for an Emergency Mail Ballot.

OPTION 1 ~ IN-PERSON VOTING
1) Voters will be checked in by giving their name and address and presenting a photo ID.
2) Voter’s record will be located in the electronic poll book.
3) Voter will be asked to confirm their party affiliation (or choose) and sign the poll pad.
4) A ballot is issued and voter will be given access to the privacy area to cast ballot.
5) Once voted, the voter inserts their ballot into the DS200 voting machine.
6) Ballot is scanned and the machine will indicate that your vote is counted.
OPTION 2 ~ TAKE YOUR BALLOT WITH YOU
1) Voter will be required to fill out a paper application.
2) A ballot is issued with an oath envelope and a postage-paid return envelope.
3) Voter has the responsibility of ensuring their ballot is physically received at either Town Hall or Board of Elections, 2000 Plainfield Pike, Cranston by September 8th 4pm by either:
• Dropping it in the mail using postage-paid envelope provided
• Hand deliver to BOE, 2000 Plainfield Pike, Cranston in the secure drop box
• Hand deliver to Town Clerk’s office in secure drop box
OPTION 3 ~ AUTHORIZE SOMEONE TO PICK UP A BALLOT FOR YOU
1) Voter will be required to fill out a paper application designating who that person is.
2) A ballot is issued to the designee with an oath envelope and postage-paid return envelope
3) Voter has the responsibility of ensuring their ballot is physically received at either Town Hall or Board of Elections, 2000 Plainfield Pike, Cranston by September 8th 4pm by either:
• Dropping it in the mail using postage-paid envelope provided
• Hand deliver to BOE, 2000 Plainfield Pike, Cranston in the secure drop box
• Hand deliver to Town Clerk’s office in secure drop box
VOTED BALLOTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT THE POLLING LOCATION ON ELECTION DAY. SEALED BALLOTS MAY BE RETURNED TO THE TOWN CLERK’S OFFICE AT 125 MAIN STREET, BY 4:00 PM ON SEPTEMBER 8TH.
