[ARCHIVED] Christopher Olsen Named Interim Fire Chief

EAST GREENWICH, RI— On Monday, the East Greenwich Town Council approved the appointment of Christopher J. Olsen as the Town’s Interim Fire Chief. 

Mr. Olsen previously served as Fire Chief for the district of Cotuit, Massachusetts for nine years until his retirement in June, 2017. Prior to that role, he served as Deputy Fire Chief for the Barnstable Fire Department for four years, and worked as a firefighter and paramedic for the department since 1989.

Mr. Olsen is a member of the Board of Directors for Skills USA, and served as Executive Board President of the Cape and Islands Emergency Medical Services until his 2017 retirement. He also serves as an instructor for the American Heart Association, dive instructor for the National Association of Underwater Instructors, and is a member of the Critical Incident Stress Management Team.

In addition to his leadership experience, Mr. Olsen holds numerous professional certifications and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Springfield College.
