West Nile Virus
Department of Public Works, 886-8618In an effort to reduce the mosquito population in East Greenwich, we are currently targeting mosquito larvae (the immature adult stage) before they become adults.
We are depositing environmentally friendly products, supplied to us by RIDEM, into areas where "standing" or "stagnant" water exists. These target areas include storm water catch basins, retention ponds, and roadside ditches located within the Town's right-of-ways or easements.
If any resident would like the Town to come out to their property to deposit, free of charge, environmentally friendly briquettes or "donuts" in standing water areas we would be glad to do so. We will need the owners permission to access their property. The products we use will last for about a thirty (30) day period, wherein we will repeat the larvaciding process until October.
You can help our efforts to reduce the mosquito population by eliminating water that collects in containers, buckets, tires, boats, unused swimming pools, and clogged gutters.
