SOLID WASTE & RECYCLING COLLECTION
PROGRAM INFORMATION
There have been several modifications to our curbside collection program to increase efficiency and to target increasing the Town’s recycling and diversion rates as mandated by the state. The Town would like to thank you for your cooperation and for your continued support for recycling which helps to reduce our waste disposal costs. Below is a summary of the major components of our program.
5-Day Schedule: The collection schedule is a 5-day schedule, Monday through Friday. A detailed route street list appears above.

Holidays: When a holiday is celebrated on a weekday, trash and recycling pickup will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week from the day of the holiday. See below for holiday listing for this year that affects the pickup schedule.

Holiday Notes:
1) February 20th (Monday) “President’s Day”- Normal Trash/Recycling Week NO DELAY
Appliances: Curbside appliance pickup will be provided one day a month by appointment only. The Town now accepts freon items including refrigerators and air conditioners in addition to other household appliances. Residents must call DPW at 886-8618 to schedule an appointment for pickup.
Yard Waste: Yard waste collection has been expanded. Curbside collection is weekly for the months of April and May, and November through first week in December. It is bi-weekly for the months of June, July, August, September, and October.
Yard Waste includes leaves, grass clippings, weeds, garden debris, and must be placed in PAPER YARD WASTE BAGS ONLY (No plastic bags). Branches/Brush must be two (2) inches or less in diameter, and must be bundled and tied in lengths no greater than four (4) feet.

The Department of Public Works responsibilities are as follows:
- Operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant
- Operation of the Transfer Station
- Maintenance of all town roads
- Make, replace, and erect street signs throughout town
- Operation of municipal buildings
- Operation of street lights
- Maintenance of street trees
- Recycle programs
- Building inspection
- Zoning enforcement
The Department of Public Works is the liaison between the public and it's various divisions; handling complaints, answering questions and providing service whenever possible.
Any questions concerning street maintenance, snow removal, street signs, drainage problems, sidewalks and minimum housing complaints should be referred to this department. Also, any questions concerning building, plumbing, electrical, sign, swimming pool and stove permits should be referred to this department. All permits pertinent to building are issued from this department, and it is involved with subdivisions from their inception until their final approval. Also requests for street lights and signs are handled by this department.
Questions and problems concerning public sewers should be referred to the Sewage Treatment Plant at 886-8649.
