The Town Clerk's office is responsible for recording all deed, mortgages, liens, releases, etc. pertaining to property located in the Town of East Greenwich.

Documents & Recordings

All documents presented for recording must be an original or a certified copy. When sending documents by mail, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope to return the originals.

Land Evidence recording requirements and fees are provided below. 

Copies may be requested by filling out the Request for Copies Form and submitting it to the Clerk's office.

Recorded Land Indexes are available from 1962 to present. Document images are available from February 2005 to present.

Recorded Map Indexes are available from 1962 to present. Map images begin in July 2023. Contact Elaine Vespia, Deputy Town Clerk, 401-886-8603 with any questions.

E-Recordings 

Electronic recordings are accepted from CSC Global and Simplifile. 

Property Located In More Than One Municipality

Grantors who transfer property located in more than one municipality must allocate the conveyance tax among the municipalities. If the Grantor presents the recorder of deeds with a certified appraisal by a licensed appraiser, setting forth the value of the specific property located in each municipality, then such figures shall be used in determining the conveyance tax.  

In the alternative, the tax for each municipality may be allocated in proportion to the assessed value of the real property in each municipality.  NOTE:  The total assessed value will likely be different from and less than the total consideration.  The assessed values are used ONLY to determine the PERCENTAGE RATIO of value, and not the actual value, which is based on the consideration paid.

Internet Access to Land Records

Internet access to land records is provided as a service to the public. Currently, images are only available for viewing and will be watermarked. In the near future, the program will be enhanced to allow for online subscriptions to allow for remote purchasing and printing using a login and password. Copies without a watermark may be purchased at the Town Clerk's office for $1.50 per page and certified for an additional $3.00 as needed. 

The use of digital cameras, scanners and cell phones to capture images are strictly prohibited.
